Welcome to the Culinary Career Choices Virtual Field Trip.  You should prepare your students for their trip with the following activities:

     1)  As a group, brainstorm a list of careers related to food.  Suggested careers to include:  bakers, butchers, chefs, cooks, dietitians, food and beverage managers,  food and beverage servers, food inspectors, food scientists, restaurant and food service managers, etc.

     2)  Have each student create a T-chart reflecting their individual interests and abilities.  To enable them in creating their T-chart, have them reflect on questions such as:  Do I prefer to work with tools, machines, food, animals, and/or people?  Do I prefer to work indoors or outdoors?  Am I good at understanding and solving science and math problems?  Do I have good artistic abilities?  Am I good at working with written records and numbers in a systematic, orderly way?  Am I good at persuading/leading people?  Am I capable of selling things/ideas?

     3)  Direct students to click on the "Field Trip Site" block and complete the number of career searches* as determined by you.

*Remember to print out copies of the student worksheet before the students take the virtual field trip.  When printing the "Culinary Career Choices" worksheet, print using the landscape property.
